English

In one sentence

PicEdit is a photo editor and batch tool that works entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, the app does not transmit them over the network, and there are no accounts, ads, or analytics.

What we access, and why

Data / permissionPurposeLeaves the device
Photos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and below, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED)Show your photos in the in-app picker so you can select them, and display the selected itemsNo
Location embedded in photos (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION)Read the GPS tags of the original file to display where a photo was taken, and keep or remove that location when you export, according to your choiceNo
Other camera metadata (EXIF: model, lens, shutter, aperture, ISO, capture time, artist, copyright)Displayed in the info panel; in batch tasks you may keep, strip, or rewrite itNo
Writing to the gallery (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 9 and below)Save results as a new file in Pictures/PicEdit (Download/PicEdit for formats the gallery does not index, such as ICO and ICNS)No

Your originals are never overwritten. Every result is a new file that you can delete from the system gallery at any time.

What we do not collect

  • No device identifiers, advertising ID, IMEI, or MAC address
  • No location tracking (the location inside a photo is only displayed locally; it is never uploaded and your location is never recorded)
  • No usage analytics, crash reports, or interaction tracking
  • No access to contacts, calendar, SMS, call logs, or microphone
  • No accounts, no cloud sync, no third-party ad or analytics SDKs

Diagnostic logging

Only debug builds (not distributed to users) print EXIF details to the system log, so that issues such as “the gallery shows a location but the app cannot read it” can be diagnosed. Release builds print no photo metadata and write no log files.

Third-party components

PicEdit uses the following open-source components. All of them run locally and send nothing anywhere:

  • AndroidX (Jetpack Compose, Core, Activity, Lifecycle)
  • AndroidX ExifInterface (reading and writing EXIF)
  • avif-coder (libavif / libaom, AVIF encoding)

Granting and revoking permissions

The system asks for photo and location permissions the first time you open the gallery. You can revoke them at any time in Settings → Apps → PicEdit → Permissions:

  • Deny photo access: the app cannot list your library and can only open a single image through the system photo picker (in that case Android strips location metadata — that is Android’s privacy design)
  • Deny location access: editing still works, but the info panel will not show where the photo was taken

Data retention and deletion

PicEdit stores nothing on any server. Locally there are only two kinds of data:

  • Temporary cache files in the app’s private cache directory, cleaned up automatically when needed and removed when you uninstall the app
  • Images you export, saved to your gallery or downloads folder, which you manage yourself

To delete them, remove the images from the system gallery, or clear the app’s data / uninstall the app.

Children’s privacy

PicEdit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app collects no personal data at all, no children’s data is collected.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially (for example, if a future version adds a feature that requires network access), we will update both this page and the release notes of the app update, and revise the effective date above. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.

照片与图片(READ_MEDIA_IMAGES、Android 13 之前的 READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE、READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED)在应用内的相册页列出照片供你选择,并显示已选中的图片否
写入相册目录(Android 9 及以下的 WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)把处理结果保存为新文件到 Pictures/PicEdit(应用不支持的格式如 ICO / ICNS 保存到 Download/PicEdit)否

  • AndroidX(Jetpack Compose、Core、Activity、Lifecycle)
  • AndroidX ExifInterface(读取与写入 EXIF)
  • avif-coder(libavif / libaom,用于 AVIF 编码)
